Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. SlickBG processes all images directly in your web browser using multiple engines (Transformers.js, MediaPipe, and smart color detection) that run on your device (via WebGPU or WASM). Your images never leave your computer. This is fundamentally different from other tools that require server uploads.
What image formats are supported?
SlickBG supports PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and AVIF input formats. You can download results as PNG (with transparency), JPG (with white or custom background), or WebP. The maximum file size is 20MB for client-side processing.
How fast is the processing?
Processing speed depends on the engine used. The Transformers.js engine (highest quality) downloads a model on first use (~50MB, cached afterward), while MediaPipe is faster and lighter. Most images process in under 10 seconds after the initial model load.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes! Use the Bulk tab to upload up to 20 images at once. They process in parallel (2-3 at a time) for maximum speed, and you can download all results as a single ZIP file.
What browsers are supported?
SlickBG works best on Chrome 113+ and Edge 113+ (with WebGPU acceleration). It also works on Firefox 116+ and Safari using WASM fallback (slightly slower but fully functional). Mobile browsers are supported as well.

Yes! A free public API endpoint is available at /api/remove-bg. It accepts multipart/form-data with an 'image' field and returns a transparent PNG. No API key is required to get started.
What engines does SlickBG use?
SlickBG uses a three-tier fallback system: (1) Transformers.js with RMBG-1.4 for high-quality removal of any subject, (2) MediaPipe Selfie Segmentation as a fast fallback optimized for human subjects, and (3) smart color-based detection as a non-AI last resort. If one engine fails, it automatically tries the next.
